Can Xalant

Can Xalant was a centre for contemporary creation and thought located in Mataró, active between 2005 and 2012. Conceived as a platform for the development of emerging artistic projects, it offered residencies, workshops and production resources. Its experimental and collaborative nature made it a key space within the Xarxa de Centres d’Arts Visuals de Catalunya.

Our project consisted of the editorial design for the 2008 yearbook, which documented the centre’s activity throughout the year — from residencies and productions to workshops and international collaborations. The publication featured exposed Japanese binding, a modular layout and colour-coded hierarchies to visually represent the diversity of content. This editorial work was awarded a Laus Prize..
